Virgin Galactic reopens tickets sales for $450,000 per seat

Virgin Galactic reported second-quarter results on Thursday and announced reopening of
ticket sales with starting price of $450,000 per seat.
The company
announced next spaceflight test is targeted on late September from Spaceport
America in New Mexico with the members of the Italian Air Force.
Shares of
the company surged 4% in after-hours trading.
The company
posted an adjusted EBITDA loss of $56 million in the quarter, compared to $55.9
million in the previous quarter. Revenue of $571,000 was generated in the
quarter from scientific research experiments.
The space
tourism company flew two spaceflight tests in the quarter with the second
flight carrying founder Richard Branson.
Virgin
Galactic is conducting spaceflight tests to finally begin the passenger flights
in early 2022. About 600 reservations are made for future flights with ticket
prices between $200,000 and $250,000.
The company noted that sales will initially prioritize
Virgin Galactic’s “significant list of early hand-raisers,” with a “follow-on
priority list” to be opened for new customers, reported CNBC.
