“Avengers: Endgame” remains the highest-grossing domestic film of all time

“Spider-Man: No Way Home” became the second-highest domestic opening of all time, surpassing the Sunday box office estimates.

The movie topped $260 million during the first weekend in theatres, compared to Sony’s expectation of $253 million.

In 2018, “Avengers: Infinity War” made $257 million while the highest-grossing domestic film of all time “Avengers: Endgame” made $357.1 million.

According to Comscore, Spider-Man’s weekend haul is more than the total domestic gross of any movie released during the pandemic.

“It’s a remarkable achievement for any time and, even more so, during the pandemic.”

Sony said the movie made $121.5 million in ticket sales on Friday, including $50 million from Thursday night preview. On Saturday, the film added $73.9 million in sales while $64.1 million on Sunday.
